What is the best way to respond to a lead?

How can you best respond to a lead? A potential customer has filled out a contact form on your website, such as a test drive or quote request. Whether or not this lead becomes a new customer is up to you. We’d like to tell you a little more about how you can win customers through your lead follow-up.

What is a lead?

A request for more information about a product or service is called a lead. Leads are often divided into hot and cold. A cold lead is someone you haven’t met or talked to before, an unknown. A warm lead is already familiar with your company.

As a car dealership, you deal with leads on a daily basis. Successfully following up on a lead increases the chances of making a sale. A crucial process for any business. How do you tackle something like this?

Your responsiveness is all-important

The most important thing in lead follow-up is your responsiveness. (Potential) customers nowadays orient themselves at several companies. The fact that they have requested a quotation from your (car) company means that they are interested in your product or service. If they have to wait too long for your response, they will quickly move on to your competitors. This is something you want to avoid, of course. That is why it is important to respond to a lead as quickly as possible.

How do I stand out from the rest?

Making your visitors feel good can set you apart from others. This can be the decisive factor why a consumer chooses you. Online, you can achieve this by having clear and sharp pictures of your premises and staff, giving your (potential) customer a good image of your company. Having a mobile-friendly website without spelling mistakes ensures a good experience when visiting a page. In addition, make sure all occasions are photographed the same.

Selling or advising

Before a person makes a purchase, they need expert advice. Make sure this knowledge is always at hand. Be friendly, involved, empathic and respond with the right answers. This will increase the chances that the customer will feel comfortable and buy the car from your dealership. By providing a customer with the right advice and remaining honest, you avoid later dissatisfaction and can build a long-term customer relationship. Selling is obviously important in the lead process, but the customer relationship is just as important. Existing customers will come back more often if you pay attention to them and make them feel that they are not a number. Bringing in a new customer is 5 to 10 times (!) as expensive as retaining an existing customer.
